Goals: Why They are Important
Goals
Why do we need them?
There are three steps to create a successful experience in your home business.
Step 1 Define Your Goals (very important step)
Step 2 Create Your Weekly Action Plan
Step 3 Track Your Actions and Results
These steps can give you an organized way to run your home business and helps you stay
committed to your goals.
Know what you are going to do each week. Start off by stepping outside of your box and
working on approaching people whether it be to give out samples, ask about a fundraiser,
or even putting a display box in their store. Then the next week, keep doing these things,
but add more things to your plan. All your steps will get easier the more you do them.
Keeping track of your actions is vital. How can anyone know exactly what was done a
week or a month ago? How can you see what is working for you and what you need to focus
on more intently if you do not keep track of your actions.
I am working on a downloadable sheet for you to get started with. You are welcome to use
it as-is, or tweak it to your own liking.
There is proof that goal setting and keeping track of your actions works and I want you to
start off your home business on the right foot and be able to live your dreams.
So, begin today by first printing out this page and starting a notebook to keep track of
all the information that you will be using to set up a successful home business.
Then start by doing three simple things to start turning your dreams in to a
reality!
Step 1 Take a notepad and set down in a nice quiet place without interuptions. When I need to
have some peace and quiet time to plan, I go and sit by my pond, maybe for you it's in
your favorite room, or by a fireplace, what ever works for you, is the perfect place to
start writing. Once you get settled in, start writing down and make it clear what you
really want to do with your home business, what you want to accomplish. Also, visualize
what kinds of friendships will be made once you start your team. Picture yourself at
company events, making new friends, even receiving distributor awards. These things
are your dreams, write them down and don't worry about how you do them, just DREAM BIG!!
Step 2 Surround yourself with people that support you and have a positive "can do" attitude.
This can be family, church friends, neighbors or anyone that gives you a positive
influence in your life. These people should support your dreams and goals and
help you along the way even if it's just listening to you.
Step 3 Read, Read, Read!
Read something, anything for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. Even if you have a busy
schedule, listen to an audio while driving the kids to school or going to work. There
is a ton of fantastic informational reading material to give you marketing ideas,
stratagies and more. Growing in your business is never finished, it's an ongoing journey
that helps you keep moving forward in a positive way. Reading can help with your attitude
throughout the day and will determine the results in things that you strive for.
I will be adding a link with some awesome articles. These all vary in length and are
a valuable tool in achieving your dreams.
Goals vs. Efforts
One dangerous thing in any business is to focusing on your results.
There are many things that you have no control over. You cannot MAKE someone purchase your
product, have a fundraiser or become part of your team. If you put all your focus on the
results and nothing happens, then you will start to loose confidence, feel exhausted and
you may want to give up on your business. There is no way to make a customer love your
product, let alone love the opportunity of becoming a team member.Be consistant and
knowledgeable about your products. If you are not positive on the answer to any question,
let them know that you will find out for sure and get back with them. DO NOT answer before
There is one area that you DO have control over.....that is your efforts.
So what should you do??
Intrigue your customer or prospect, you can do this in a passionate way (be sure to use
your products and actually love them, it makes your passion more genuine). Honest, reliable
information will help them make an educated decision. Remember though....that final
decision is out of your control. Just try to focus on your efforts, learn how to act, most
of all listen to your prospects. Get a feel for what they are wanting or expecting and then
react to their leads, the results will then follow if it is the right decision for them.
Look back at your goal list, instead of setting a goal of five new distributors joining your
business in a set time, why not have a goal of say 20-30 new prospects that you are actively
talking to, just put your energy in to your efforts and you will become a valuable leader
for others.
Simply put: focus on your efforts rather than the results from all your efforts.
Motto: Each day is a new day and a new opportunity to build a foundation for your dreams!
Yesterday is history, move on. Tomorrow is a mystery, focus on your efforts. And today is
the present......the present is a gift, use it!
